Tips For Ranking Facebook Page
Claim your vanity URL.
Facebook offers free customized URLs, which replace a user profile ID in your page address with a name of your choosing. Because the words within your URL are one signal Google uses to determine what a page is about, it’s worth taking a few minutes to claim yours.
Complete your profile.
The more complete your Facebook page, the better Google is able to classify what your business does, where you are located, and other key details that make you relevant to people’s searches. Make sure each of the sections of your profile is complete and that your address and phone number are an exact match for how they are formatted on your website and other listing sites .
Use keywords – where appropriate.
As with your website, your choice of wording and the placement of important keywords can help search engines quickly and correctly understand what your page is about. Google’s keyword planner can help you to find the exact keywords or phrases (called “long tail keywords”) more people use when they are searching for businesses like yours. Use these words in your about sections and Facebook posts. But as with your website, don’t overdo it. Loading your page name or description fields with keywords can come across as “keyword stuffing” and have the opposite of your intended effect, resulting in a lower search ranking.
Get a local verification badge.
Facebook recently introduced local verification badges for businesses. These confirm your page is the authentic one for your business. Though Google hasn’t expressly said that having a verification badge will help your page, it is one more signal of your page’s location and authenticity, and as such, it’s likely this could factor into how your page ranks on search. Even if it doesn’t give you a boost on Google, verification will help you show up higher on local Facebook searches.
Add links to your Facebook page on your website and blog.
Inbound links – links back to your Facebook page from other websites – can help boost your SEO as Google views each link as a vote of credibility for your page. Once you’ve built your page, make sure to link to it from your website and blog, and anywhere else the link may be appropriate.
